Throughfall and Stemflow in the Forest Nutrient Cycle

1983
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses a number of factors influencing the throughfall and stemflow quality and their variation. The effect of the canopy in altering the precipitation quality is also discussed. The annual nutrient return to the forest soil for the elements K, Na, and S is predominantly via throughfall and stemflow and little ...

Chemical Characteristics in Stemflow of Japanese Cedar in Japan

Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, 2001
To clarify the characteristics in stemflow of Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), we conducted the annual and extensive observation. We examined the chemistry of bulk and wet deposition, throughfall and stemflow at 26 forested sites in June and September 1998. The each sampling site was broadly distributed in all over the Japanese archipelago.

Stemflow of water on maize and its influencing factors

Agricultural Water Management, 2015
Abstract Stemflow is important for analyzing soil water dynamics and plant growth in regions with limited rainfall. The objective of this study was to determine the amount of stemflow in relation to plant and rainfall properties. In this study, stemflow was measured using a high water adsorption sheet method during the period of maize plant height ...

Throughfall Stemflow and Interception in Pine and Eucalypt Forest

Australian Forestry, 1972
SUMMARY The relationships between precipitation, throughfall, stemflow and interception were investigated during a thirty-one month field study at Lidsdale State Forest, New South Wales, with a system of standard rainguages and trough gauges. Interception in a mature radiata pine plantation was approximately 6.35 inches or 18.7 per cent of the average ...
