Sarawak’s wild creeper red fern, namely midin (Stenochlaena palustris), grows naturally in the secondary forests and is peculiar to the state. Its tender new fronds are widely eaten as a vegetable, famous for its crispy texture and great taste. Midin has a bright future to be introduced as a potential crop for the export market.
