Abstract Golf courses throughout the southern United States have begun converting fairways from hybrid bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon × C. transvaalensis Burtt‐Davy) to manilagrass [Zoysia matrella (L.) Merr.]. Recognition (trifloxysulfuron + metcamifen) can be tank‐mixed with fluazifop to gradually remove hybrid bermudagrass during conversion ...

Poa annua ecology, biology, and integrated weed management practices in turfgrass
Abstract Poa annua L. is one of the most widespread and troublesome weeds of turfgrass. It persists as both an annual and perennial and is adaptable to almost any static maintenance regime, including adaptation to mowing heights and evolution of herbicide resistance.

Registration of ‘FAES 1307’ and ‘FAES 1319’ zoysiagrasses
Abstract We describe the development and release by the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station of ‘FAES 1307’ (Reg. no. CV‐298, PI 707939) and ‘FAES 1319’ (Reg. no. CV‐299, PI 707940) zoysiagrasses (Zoysia spp. Willd.). There is increasing worldwide interest in zoysiagrasses due to their lower fertility and maintenance requirements.

Allergenicity and cross-reactivity of buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum).
In the subtropical climate of South Africa, grasses of the subfamily Panicoideae are predominant. Bermuda grass has previously been shown to be an important local allergen, and immunoglobulin E (IgE) epitopes of Bermuda grass extracts are known to be distinct from those of the Pooid pollen extracts.

Review of the biology and management of large patch of warm‐season turfgrasses
Abstract Large patch (Rhizoctonia solani Kühn: anastomosis group [AG] 2‐2) is a destructive disease in warm‐season turfgrasses worldwide, particularly zoysiagrass (Zoysia spp.). Developing as an orange or tan color, the disease starts as small, round patches that can eventually progress to several meters in diameter.

Alien C4 grass species likely benefit from a changing climate, being adapted better to drought and heat stress. (i) We compiled an up‐to‐date inventory of alien C4 grass species in Europe, (ii) clarified their country‐wise distribution, (iii) identified the most widespread species and most invaded habitat types and (iv) assessed the temporal trend of ...

Irrigation rates and turfgrass evapotranspiration in cities with contrasting water availability
Abstract As water scarcity is worsened by drought and climate change, there is more interest in efficient management of urban irrigation, requiring understanding of the drivers of evapotranspiration (ET) and the role of irrigation inputs. We developed and validated a method to accurately measure ET of turfgrass lawns in contrasting climates using ...

Preliminary description of the diet of Hippopotamus amphibius L. in Loango National Park (Gabon)
Due to the paucity of suitable habitat, hippos are very rare in the Congo Bassin. Compared to East-African populations, Central African populations of hippos have been less studied. Information found in the literature regarding the animal's basic ecology
