Allergenicity and crossreactivity of buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum)

open access: yesSouth African Medical Journal, 2016
Background. In the subtropical climate of South Africa, grasses of the subfamily Panicoideae are predominant. Bermuda grass has previously been shown to be an important local allergen, and immunoglobulin E (IgE) epitopes of Bermuda grass extracts are known to be distinct from those of the Pooid pollen extracts.

Effects of turfgrass canopy shade levels and quantum spectrum on the germination and development of smooth crabgrass (Digitaria ischaemum)

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract Smooth crabgrass [Digitaria ischaemum (Schreb.) Schreb. ex Muhl.] is one of the most troublesome summer annual weeds in cool‐season turfgrass. Field experiments demonstrated a strong relationship between spring photosynthetic active radiation reaching the soil surface and the resulting smooth crabgrass cover in Kentucky bluegrass (Poa ...

Fifteen years of findings: Advancements in spring dead spot research from 2009 to 2024

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract Spring dead spot (Ophiosphaerella spp.; SDS) is one of the most detrimental diseases to warm‐season turfgrasses, particularly bermudagrass (Cynodon spp.), growing in climates where cold temperatures induce dormancy. The pathogen can infect the crowns, stolons, rhizomes, and roots of bermudagrass most of the year, but infection in the fall ...

Molecular analysis of St. Augustinegrass cultivar mixtures composition over time and latitude

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract St. Augustinegrass [Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze] is commonly planted in residential and commercial landscapes as a cultivar monoculture predisposing this lawn to pest invasion and high‐maintenance inputs. Researchers have suggested that increasing genetic diversity by growing cultivars in mixtures may increase turfgrass stress ...

Management practices alter endophytic diazotrophic communities in CitraBlue St. Augustinegrass

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract Turfgrass research based on inoculations with commercial products containing nitrogen‐fixing endophytes as an alternative to synthetic nitrogen (N) fertilizers has yielded inconclusive results, indicating a lack of understanding of the colonization and stability of diazotrophic endophytes in turfgrasses.

St. Augustinegrass accessions planted in northern, central and southern Italy: Growth and morphological traits during establishment

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2018
The use of warm season turfgrasses is a consolidated trend in the climatic transition zone of Mediterranean countries, in particular St. Augustinegrass (Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze) begins to be widespread in warm coastal areas.

Efeito do trinexapac-ethyl na anatomia foliar de quatro espécies de grama Trinexapac-ethyl effect on the leaf anatomy of four turfgrass species

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2010

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological and Chemical Sciences, 2013
