Biodegradation and dissolution of polyaromatic hydrocarbons by Stenotrophomonas sp.

Bioresource Technology, 2016
The aim of this work was to study the biodegradation capabilities of a locally isolated bacterium, Stenotrophomonas sp. strain IITR87 to degrade the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and also check the preferential biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Bioremediation of hexavalent chromate using permeabilized Brevibacterium sp. and Stenotrophomonas sp. cells

Journal of Environmental Management, 2015
Bioremediation has been found to be a useful method for removing hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), which is very toxic, from wastewater. Two strains of bacteria that were able to reduce Cr(VI) effectively were isolated from Cr(VI) contaminated soil samples and identified as Brevibacterium sp. K1 and Stenotrophomonas sp.

Biodegradation and Detoxification of Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) by Stenotrophomonas sp. and Alcaligenaceae bacterium

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2023
Every year, human activities introduce large amounts of synthetic plastics into the environment. Decomposition of the plastic derivatives is very difficult and time consuming, so it is essential to eliminate these pollutants using different methods. Bioremediation, is suitable option, because of the low cost and environmentally safe.

AFB1 Bio-Degradation by a New Strain - Stenotrophomonas. sp

Agricultural Sciences in China, 2008
The paper was to find the bacteria to degrade aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and realize the application of biological degradation on AFB1. Using cumarin as the carbon source and energy on the first screening, then the ten strains which were first screened out were taken to degrade AFB1 100 μg kg−1.

Oxidative stress of Microcystis aeruginosa induced by algicidal bacterium Stenotrophomonas sp. KT48

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2022
Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms are a worldwide problem with substantial adverse effects on the aquatic environment as well as human health. Among the multiple physicochemical and biotic approaches, algicidal bacterium is one of the most promising and eco-friendly ways to control bloom expansion. In this study, Stenotrophomonas sp.

Metabolism of acenaphthylene via 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalene and catechol by Stenotrophomonas sp. RMSK

Biodegradation, 2009
Stenotrophomonas sp. RMSK capable of degrading acenaphthylene as a sole source of carbon and energy was isolated from coal sample. Metabolites produced were analyzed and characterized by TLC, HPLC and mass spectrometry. Identification of naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid, 1-naphthoic acid, 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalene, salicylate and detection of key ...

Stenotrophomonas panacihumi sp. nov., isolated from soil of a ginseng field

The Journal of Microbiology, 2010
The study isolated a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile bacterium from the soil of a ginseng field in Daejeon, South Korea and characterized it to determine its taxonomic position. Phylogenetic analysis, based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence, revealed that strain MK06(T) belongs to the family Xanthomonadacea, and showed the highest degree of sequence ...

Stenotrophomonas chelatiphaga sp. nov., a new aerobic EDTA-degrading bacterium

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 2009
A new ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-utilizing gammaproteobacterial strain LPM-5(T) was isolated from municipal sewage sludge. Aerobic, gram-negative, motile rods multiply by binary fission. Neutrophilic and mesophilic, these are unable to grow in the presence of 3% NaCl (w/v), and unable to reduce nitrate to nitrite, and are oxidase and ...

C–S Targeted Biodegradation of Dibenzothiophene by Stenotrophomonas sp. NISOC-04

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2011
Crude oil-contaminated soil samples were gathered across Khuzestan oilfields (National Iranian South Oil Company, NISOC) consequently experienced a screening procedure for isolating C-S targeted dibenzothiophene-biodegrading microorganisms with previously optimized techniques. Among the isolates, a bacterial strain was selected due to its capability of

Detoxification of aflatoxin B1 by Stenotrophomonas sp. CW117 and characterization the thermophilic degradation process

Environmental Pollution, 2020
Mycotoxins are high toxic, widely distributed contaminants in foodstuff. In this study, a aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) degrading strain S. acidoaminiphila CW117 was screened, and its detoxification characteristics were investigated. Substrate AFB1 at 45 μg/L was degraded by CW117 within 24 h; meanwhile, 4.1 mg/L AFB1 was almost degraded within 48 h.
