Investigating the flow dynamics in the obstructed and stented ureter by means of a biomimetic artificial model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Double-J stenting is the most common clinical method employed to restore the upper urinary tract drainage, in the presence of a ureteric obstruction. After implant, stents provide an immediate pain relief by decreasing the pressure in the renal pelvis (P)

Stent embolization during intracoronary stenting

open access: yesThe American Journal of Cardiology, 1996
Nine patients with systemic embolization complicating intracoronary stenting (incidence 1.8%) are described. Although this rare complication was not associated with any clinical sequelae, great care should be taken to prevent this possibility, especially in patients with unfavorable anatomic characteristics, including lesions in the left circumflex ...

Microporous Polymer Membranes: Molecular Stents Enhanced Solvent‐Accessibility for Organic Solvent Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel microporous polyimide (PI‐TB‐NDI) is designed for enhanced organic solvent nanofiltration. By incorporating o‐methyl groups into the Tröger's base (TB) unit to create molecular stents, the polymer's intrinsic free volume is effectively increased without the need for post‐treatment.
