STEP-NC Based Industrial Robot CAM System

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009
Abstract In this paper a computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system for industrial robot machining operations is introduced. The system is based on the new machining standard STEP-NC which is rapidly making its way into the world of numerical controlled (NC-) machines (e.g. milling and turning machines).

On STEP-NC and the Complexities of Product Data Integration

Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, 2004
For twenty years the manufacturing domain has been seeking to share product model data by defining an entity relationship model covering the life cycle of geometrically defined products. The data sharing is implemented by selecting subsets of these entities and relationships to define data exchange standards for CAD, CAE, CAM, CNC and PDM systems.

A New Network Collaborative Manufacturing Based on the STEP-NC

2010 International Conference on Computational Aspects of Social Networks, 2010
In order to meet the open and networked needs of NC technology, a new STEP-NC standard has become the latest study direction. Based on the differences between the traditional NC procedure and STEP-NC, the paper provides a new network collaborative manufacturing, which includes two parts, product design and manufacturing process that are set to be ...

Run-time interpretation of STEP-NC: implementation and performance

International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, 2006
This paper describes an experiment in building and running two STEP-NC interpreters for milling operations: one using ISO 14649, the other using AP 238 of ISO 10303. Both use STEP part 21 exchange files as input and call low-level machine control functions. Both include tool path generators and have sufficient functionality to execute the first example

Realization of STEP-NC enabled machining

Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, 2006
Abstract A STEP-compliant CNC machine tool that demonstrated a G-code free machining scenario is presented. The aim of this research is to showcase the advantages of, and evaluate, STEP-NC—a new NC data model—by implementing it in a legacy CNC system.

Systematic review of STEP-NC-based inspection

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2020
Closed-loop inspection manufacturing (CLIM) and computer-aided inspection planning (CAIP) have increasingly been evolved into a size method that can be used to look at fashions in the industrial area with a number of methods. CAIP is hastily carried out in the gadget and will become an indispensable phase of the production system.

STEP into Distributed Manufacturing with STEP-NC

2007
As the technological information of enterprises becomes more and more distributed, continuous data acquisition in decentralised computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools and databases is necessary for a distributed manufacturing system. This chapter focuses on an emerging ISO standard, informally known as STEP-NC, and the role it plays in closing ...

Code Translator of STEP-NC Based on ISO14649

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2007
For the application of STEP-NC in NC system, an STEP-NC code translator is exploited. Firstly, summarizes the limitation of conventional standard ISO6983 and the superiority of STEP-NC. After an analysis on two different generating methods of STEP-NC program, introduces the exploited STEP-NC code translator based on ISO14649. According to inner logical

An approach for applying STEP-NC in robot machining

Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, 2018
Abstract This paper presents an approach for applying new machining standard ISO 10303-238 in machining operations by using industrial robots. The methodology developed according to this standard is proposed for executing programming, simulation and machining by industrial robots.

Study on the Simulation System Based on STEP-NC

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
This paper presents a simulation system based on STEP-NC that can verify STEP-NC program and demonstrate the running of STEP-NC system (CNC system based on STEP-NC). NC Programs used in the STEP-NC system are in XML format. The overall architecture of the system which consists of feature extraction module, graphical modeling module, movement modeling ...
