Temporal Action Detection with Structured Segment Networks

open access: yes, 2017
Detecting actions in untrimmed videos is an important yet challenging task. In this paper, we present the structured segment network (SSN), a novel framework which models the temporal structure of each action instance via a structured temporal pyramid ...

Furan‐Substituted Phosphine‐Oxide as an Efficient Interfacial Modifier for Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report phosphine‐oxide interlayers for wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells, in which tuned P = O Lewis basicity enables selective passivation of buried NiOx/perovskite interfaces and introduces interfacial dipoles that strengthen the built‐in field.

Seedless Hydrothermal Growth of ZnO Nanorods as a Promising Route for Flexible Tactile Sensors

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Hydrothermal growth of ZnO nanorods has been widely used for the development of tactile sensors, with the aid of ZnO seed layers, favoring the growth of dense and vertically aligned nanorods.

Next steps in Base-of-the-Pyramid research and practice

open access: yes, 2014
In this book we have studied several strategic challenges for firms active in the Base of the Pyramid (BoP). We started with looking at the challenges of cross-sector collaborations and subsequently explored some of the mechanisms for building trust with local communities, organizational capabilities to deal with different types of innovation and the ...

Comparative study of different scattering geometries for the proposed Indian X-ray polarization measurement experiment using Geant4

open access: yes, 2010
Polarization measurements in X-rays can provide unique opportunity to study the behavior of matter and radiation under extreme magnetic fields and extreme gravitational fields. Unfortunately, over past two decades, when X-ray astronomy witnessed multiple

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics Simulator for the Thirty Meter Telescope: Design, Implementation, and Results

open access: yes, 2018
We present a multi-conjugate adaptive optics (MCAO) system simulator bench, HeNOS (Herzberg NFIRAOS Optical Simulator). HeNOS is developed to validate the performance of the MCAO system for the Thirty Meter Telescope, as well as to demonstrate techniques

The Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip, or 2 × 2D = Pseudo‐3D—Approaching 3D Cell Morphology and Organization between Two Opposing 2D Substrates with Cell‐Adhesive Protein Micropatterns

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...

On Vertex Adjacencies in the Polytope of Pyramidal Tours with Step-Backs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We consider the traveling salesperson problem in a directed graph. The pyramidal tours with step-backs are a special class of Hamiltonian cycles for which the traveling salesperson problem is solved by dynamic programming in polynomial time. The polytope of pyramidal tours with step-backs $PSB (n)$ is defined as the convex hull of the characteristic ...
