A voltage quality improvement solution using step dynamic voltage regulator

PowerCon 2000. 2000 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX409), 2002
The quality of power supply is largely synonymous with voltage quality. Momentary voltage dips and fluctuations are some of the common power quality disturbances in the electrical supply networks. The effects of these disturbances transcend beyond just annoyances for the utility customers but may cause industrial-process interruptions which can incur ...

Simplified conservative measurements of touch and step voltages

1999 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference (Cat. No.99CH36371), 2003
Protection against electric shock requires grounding systems that must be designed primarily to keep touch voltage (E/sub t/) and step voltage (E/sub s/) to a safe value. Testing of the efficiency of a grounding system is mandatory to verify the capability to satisfy the protection requirements at the end of the construction and periodically in the ...

Voltage Stabilization: A Critical Step Toward High Photovoltaic Penetration

IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, 2019
The increasing photovoltaic (PV) power sources connected to low-voltage (LV) distribution networks generate a new grid environment featuring various types of power generations near consumers and bidirectional active and reactive power flows. However, the large-scale deployment of PVs is hindered by the power quality problems, particularly voltage ...

Control of high-step down voltage converters for voltage regulator modules

2011 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control, 2011
New technologies are requiring high step-down conversion voltages. A possible solution to this problem is to use several buck converters connected in cascade; however, a complex control circuitry is required. An alternative solution is to use an n-stage positive output cascade buck converter with a single active switch.

Voltage control of multiple step voltage regulators by renewing control parameters

2014 Power Systems Computation Conference, 2014
This paper presents a novel method of determining the control parameters and a voltage control method for multiple step voltage regulators (SVRs) in a single feeder. The main feature of the proposed method is the updating of the control parameters at constant intervals to minimize the amount of voltage violations and the tap operation times of the SVRs

TOUCH AND STEP VOLTAGE HAZARD ANALYSIS

This article analyzes the risks associated with electric shock, specifically focusing on the effects of touch and step voltage, which can lead to severe injury or death. Citing international studies, the research confirms that older individuals typically exhibit a body resistance between 1000-2000 Ω, with exposure to 230 V potentially causing dangerous

Step-Voltage Testing of Ni-Cd Batteries

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2014
State of charge diagnostics is very important problem for high power batteries, charging by constant voltage during long time. For many types of secondary cells, based on intercalation processes, a relation between capacity and current response on potential step can be obtain.

Voltage transients elicited by sudden step‐up of auxin

Plant, Cell & Environment, 1984
Abstract It is hypothesized (i) that the molecular mechanism for the reception of friction and flexure and the mechanism by which auxin enhances ethylene production have in common a release of free calcium into the cytosol, (ii) that elevated cytosolic calcium initiates vesicle exocytosis, and (iii) that the vesicles release a factor or set of factors ...

A Microcomputer Control for Step-Voltage Regulators

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1985
Advances in the state of the art applicable to electronic controls make possible continuing enhancements in these products. The use of microprocessor based digital techniques is the latest advance in a long continuing evolution of products dedicated to the control of step-voltage regulators or load tapchangers on transformers. The fundamental nature of
