Novel voltage control of multiple step voltage regulators in a distribution system
ISGT 2014, 2014This paper presents a novel method for determining the control parameters and a voltage control method for multiple step voltage regulators (SVRs) in a single feeder. The main purpose of the proposed method is to reduce the amount of voltage violation and the tap operation times and to extend the voltage margin from the upper and lower voltage limits ...

High Voltage Cables – A Technology Step
Offshore Technology Conference, 2022Abstract A two-sided marked push for subsea power transmission has taken place in the last 5 years, first initiated by the oil & gas industry's push for subsea electrification, then followed by a desire to reduce the CO2 footprint from oil & gas production throughelectrification of production facilities with power from onshore.

An improved method of voltage stepping
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Physics, 1969Abstract A unit providing sequential stepping over up to eleven mass positions is described. Operation may be in a straight sequence or in one with the reference mass monitored alternately with measurements at the other masses. Performance tests show that the latter mode of operation permits higher precision by virtue of the more frequent monitoring ...

Control of high-step down voltage converters for voltage regulator modules
2011 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control, 2011New technologies are requiring high step-down conversion voltages. A possible solution to this problem is to use several buck converters connected in cascade; however, a complex control circuitry is required. An alternative solution is to use an n-stage positive output cascade buck converter with a single active switch.

Voltage control of multiple step voltage regulators by renewing control parameters
2014 Power Systems Computation Conference, 2014This paper presents a novel method of determining the control parameters and a voltage control method for multiple step voltage regulators (SVRs) in a single feeder. The main feature of the proposed method is the updating of the control parameters at constant intervals to minimize the amount of voltage violations and the tap operation times of the SVRs

Double voltage step-up photovoltaic microinverter
2017 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2017In conventional photovoltaic microinverters configuration, a single PV module is connected to the grid through two converter stages: a step-up dc-dc stage and a step-down dc-ac stage. In the first stage, a high frequency transformer is generally used to achieve the high step-up voltage ratio conversion to a voltage above the grid peak value, reducing ...

Protecting Workers from Step Voltage Hazards
IEEE Technology and Society Magazine, 2016Occupational accidents still occur, despite technical developments in the occupational safety field at large. The experience of being harmed at work can be devastating, with profound consequences for employees, their families, friends, and work colleagues. Many consequences cannot be measured directly, such as pain suffered.

Integration of step voltage regulators in islanded microgrids
2017 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2017Step voltage regulators (SVRs) are the workhorses of existing distribution feeders, where they provide appropriate voltage control to meet the customer demands. Given the special features and operation characteristics of islanded microgrids (IMGs), the role of SVRs during the operation of distribution networks in islanded mode has not been well ...

Simplified conservative measurements of touch and step voltages
1999 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference (Cat. No.99CH36371), 2003Protection against electric shock requires grounding systems that must be designed primarily to keep touch voltage (E/sub t/) and step voltage (E/sub s/) to a safe value. Testing of the efficiency of a grounding system is mandatory to verify the capability to satisfy the protection requirements at the end of the construction and periodically in the ...

Voltage depending load models. Validation by voltage step tests
2006 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006This paper presents applications of the exponential static load model used to represent voltage depending loads. This model has been used to represent loads of different types: industrial, residential and of petroleum extraction fields. These loads belong to "Sistema Interconectado Patagonico" (SIP), a small power system of 1200 MW of peak load ...
