Integration of step voltage regulators in islanded microgrids
2017 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2017Step voltage regulators (SVRs) are the workhorses of existing distribution feeders, where they provide appropriate voltage control to meet the customer demands. Given the special features and operation characteristics of islanded microgrids (IMGs), the role of SVRs during the operation of distribution networks in islanded mode has not been well ...

Novel voltage control of multiple step voltage regulators in a distribution system
ISGT 2014, 2014This paper presents a novel method for determining the control parameters and a voltage control method for multiple step voltage regulators (SVRs) in a single feeder. The main purpose of the proposed method is to reduce the amount of voltage violation and the tap operation times and to extend the voltage margin from the upper and lower voltage limits ...

Control of high-step down voltage converters for voltage regulator modules
2011 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control, 2011New technologies are requiring high step-down conversion voltages. A possible solution to this problem is to use several buck converters connected in cascade; however, a complex control circuitry is required. An alternative solution is to use an n-stage positive output cascade buck converter with a single active switch.

Voltage control of multiple step voltage regulators by renewing control parameters
2014 Power Systems Computation Conference, 2014This paper presents a novel method of determining the control parameters and a voltage control method for multiple step voltage regulators (SVRs) in a single feeder. The main feature of the proposed method is the updating of the control parameters at constant intervals to minimize the amount of voltage violations and the tap operation times of the SVRs

An analysis and implementation of step-dynamic voltage regulator
2002 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37309), 2003This paper describes the design considerations and effectiveness of step-dynamic voltage regulator (S-DVR) as a solution to mitigate against voltage sags. A possible short-circuit problem encountered during S-DVR operation is identified and analyzed. Two solutions are proposed and they are validated through computer simulations.

Digital Control and Instrumentation for Step-Voltage Regulators
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1985Voltage regulators, LTC transformers, and switched capacitors control the voltage on a power system within defined limits. The devices used to control such equipment have used analog electronics. With developments in microprocessors, some control devices now use digital electronics because of their improved measurement accuracy, digital readout ...

Step-Voltage Regulator Model Test System
2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2015In this paper, a 4-node test feeder will be proposed as the Step-Voltage Regulator (SVR) model test system. The formulation for modelling a SVR bank consisting on three single phase Type A regulators in raise position will be stated in an extended way. However, the procedure to extend the formulation to any other connection will be also explained, and ...

A voltage quality improvement solution using step dynamic voltage regulator
PowerCon 2000. 2000 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX409), 2002The quality of power supply is largely synonymous with voltage quality. Momentary voltage dips and fluctuations are some of the common power quality disturbances in the electrical supply networks. The effects of these disturbances transcend beyond just annoyances for the utility customers but may cause industrial-process interruptions which can incur ...

The modeling and application of step voltage regulators
2009 IEEE/PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2009Supplying every customer a voltage that is within ANSI standards is a basic requirement of a distribution feeder. As the load on a feeder varies the voltage supplied to every customer will also vary. Some means of regulating the customer voltages must be implemented.

Step-up LDO voltage regulator for a self-powered biosensor
2017 IEEE SENSORS, 2017A step-up low dropout voltage regulator for a selfpowered glucose biosensing system is designed for energy storage and delivery purposes. The self-powered glucose bio-sensing system consists of a glucose biofuel cell that is capable of producing micro-watt power and delivering ∼400 mV peak-voltage, or nominally 350 mV.
