Oscillatory flow in a stepped channel
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1993Two-dimensional, unsteady flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid in a stepped channel has been studied by the numerical solution of the Navier–Stokes equation using an accurate finite-difference method. With a sinusoidal mass flow rate, the problem has three governing parameters: the Reynolds number, the Strouhal number, and the step height.

Blobs, channels and “cigars”: Morphologies of liquids at a step
The European Physical Journal E, 2004We have studied the equilibria of liquid droplets wetting a step edge with an opening angle 0 < alpha < pi by a combination of analytical and numerical methods. Depending on the wetting properties of the substrate walls and on the liquid volume, different locally or globally stable liquid morphologies are found.

Mixing Enhancement by Microrotor in Step Channel
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2011In this paper, the mixing enhancement of a micromixer consisting of a step channel and a shuttlecock rotor suspended in the step is numerically analyzed. Asymptotic mixing performance is investigated as a function of Strouhal and Peclet numbers by particle tracking simulation and the Eulerian approach. The simulation results show that the rotor creates

Laminar flow in a channel with a step
Journal of Engineering Mathematics, 1972In this paper we investigated numerically the laminar flow of a homogeneous, viscous incompressible liquid, through a channel with a step. We used one numerical approach for small Reynolds numbers, and a different method for large numbers. Streamlines were calculated with high accuracy using a relatively small amount of computer time.

An investigation of a potential step at a channel electrode
Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1989The present paper deals with a theoretical investigation of a potential step at a channel electrode. The study consists in the numerical solution of the partial differential equations relevant to the transient mass balance in the vicinity of the electrode, taking into account the convective term.

Design Of Ble 2-Step Separate Channel Fingerprinting
2020 IEEE 91st Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2020-Spring), 2020Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-based localization is a promising candidate of indoor localization for low power mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Localization accuracy of BLE-based localization systems is lower than other localization technologies relying on wideband wireless communication such as WiFi due to limited channel bandwidth.

Radiation losses of step-tapered channel waveguides
Applied Optics, 1980We compute the radiation losses of a rectangular dielectric waveguide (integrated optics channel waveguide) that is tapered so that its wider cross-sectional dimension increases by roughly a factor of three while its narrow dimension remains constant. As the waveguide widens its refractive index decreases to ensure that the waveguide supports only one ...

Waves behind a Step in an Open Channel
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2003The paper presents experimental data on flow in the vicinity of a sudden elevation of channel bottom (step). The range of external flow parameters is considered for the case where the step generates waves. A distinguishing feature of these waves is that they are formed in transition from subcritical to supercritical flow.

Velocity characteristics along a small step–pool channel
Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2000This paper summarizes measurements of velocity along three reaches of a small mountain channel with step–pool bedforms. A one-dimensional electromagnetic current meter was used to record velocity fluctuations at 37 fixed measurement points during five measurement intervals spanning the peak of the annual snowmelt hydrograph.

Fully Developed Laminar Flow in a Stepped Rectangular Channel
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1966The problem considered is that of fully developed, laminar incompressible flow in a stepped rectangular channel. An analytical solution is obtained for the velocity profile by using the variational method. Velocity profiles are computed for a specific case by truncating the series expressions and evaluating the coefficients numerically (Rayleigh-Ritz ...
