A variable step-size sign algorithm for channel estimation
Signal Processing, 2014This paper proposes a new variable step-size sign algorithm (VSSA) for unknown channel estimation or system identification, and applies this algorithm to an environment containing two-component Gaussian mixture observation noise. The step size is adjusted using the gradient-based weighted average of the sign algorithm.

Three-channel phase stepped system for moire interferometry
Applied Optics, 1991A use of the multichannel phase stepped interferometry approach to automated fringe pattern analysis in moire interferometry is described. Polarization optics is used to implement the appropriate phase shifts in each channel. The channels are created by inserting a diffraction grating at the output of the interferometer.

Utilisation of Stepped Channels and Study of Stepped Channel Flows in Australia
1998Stepped channels and spillways are used since more than 3,000 years. Recently, new construction materials (e.g. RCC, gabions) have increased the interest for stepped chutes. The steps increase significantly the rate of energy dissipation taking place along the chute and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin.

Detonation diffraction in a multi-step channel
2012This research investigated multiple detonation diffraction events in order to better understand the limits and benefits of diffraction strategies with respect to pulse detonation engine design. Hydrogen/air detonations were generated using swept ramp obstacles in a 1.27 m long channel with a cross section of 25.4 mm by 88.9 mm and were diffracted into ...
