RUVBL2 Regulates Microglia Metabolic Reprogramming to Mediate Stress Granules Aggregation Exacerbating Postoperative Delirium in Aged Mild Cognitive Impairment Rats

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
RUVBL2 mediates stress granule aggregation by regulating microglial metabolic reprogramming, thereby exacerbating postoperative delirium in aged rats with mild cognitive impairment. ABSTRACT Postoperative delirium (POD) accelerates the transition from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer's disease (AD) in elderly patients.

Sub‐Anesthetic Ketamine Administration Decreases Deviance Detection Responses at the Cellular, Population‐ and Mesoscale Levels

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 7, April 2026.
During an auditory deviance detection task, naïve mice and mice injected with sub‐anesthetic ketamine show marked differences in spiking activity and mesoscale connectivity. Control mice exhibit a biphasic spiking response to deviant sounds, whereas the late spiking component is abolished by ketamine.

Peri‐Microvascular Glycogen and Lactate Regulate Capillary Constrictions and Ischemia Outcome in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 4, April 2026.
Disruption of astrocytic glycogen metabolism, induced by glycogen phosphorylase inhibition (DAB) or genetic deficiency of GYS1 (GYS1Nestin‐KO and GYS1Gfap‐KO), reduces lactate availability to pericytes and impairs microvascular function. This metabolic deficit leads to pericyte‐associated capillary constriction, reduced cerebral blood flow, and ...

The sympathoregulatory region of the mouse rostral brainstem relies on both GABA and glycine to generate inhibitory currents

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 7, Page 2939-2957, 1 April 2026.
Abstract figure legend Our study demonstrates that both GABA and glycine mediate inhibitory postsynaptic currents in the ventrolateral/ventromedial medulla (VLM/VMM) and increasing the activity of inhibitory synapses facilitates glycine release. We found that presympathetic VLM/VMM neurons receive glycinergic inputs, which release both glycine and GABA,
