Impact of the sterol O-acyltransferase gene (Cmare2) on morphology and stability of the mushroom Cordyceps militaris

open access: closedInternational Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Strain degeneration in mushroom cultivation can lead to significant commercial losses, yet the genetic factors remain elusive. This study identified the sterol O-acyltransferase gene, Cmare2, which is associated with colony sectorization in Cordyceps militaris, using a T-DNA insertion-mutant library.

Knockdown of sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) suppresses SCD1-mediated lipogenesis and cancer procession in prostate cancer

Prostaglandins & Other Lipid Mediators, 2021
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most fatal malignant tumors that occurs in the prostate epithelium, especially in older men, the mortality of which ranks sixth among all cancer-related deaths. It has been urgently needed to elucidate the pathogenesis of PCa and provide promising therapeutic targets for PCa treatment. The Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (

Helvamide, a new inhibitor of sterol O-acyltransferase produced by the fungus Aspergillus nidulans BF-0142

The Journal of Antibiotics, 2018
A new piperazine derivative designated helvamide was isolated as a pair of rotamers (1 and 2) from the culture broth of the fungus Aspergillus nidulans BF-0142 along with a known helvafuranone (3). The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated based on spectroscopic analyses by the interpretation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic ...

Drimane sesquiterpene esters produced by Aspergillus insuetus BF-1613 as inhibitors of sterol O-acyltransferase

The Journal of Antibiotics
A new drimane sesquiterpene ester, designated insuetusolate (1), and four reported ones (2-5) were isolated from a culture broth of Aspergillus insuetus BF-1613. The chemical structure of 1 was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses, including MS and NMR.

Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 deficiency improves defective insulin signaling in the brains of mice fed a high-fat diet

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2018
Insulin resistance induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) is related to metabolic diseases, and sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) is a key enzyme for the biosynthesis of cholesteryl ester. In the present study, wild-type (WT) mice and SOAT1-knockout (KO) mice with a C57BL6 background fed a HFD were used to explore the role of SOAT1 in the hypothalamus.
