Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Curriculum-Enhanced Adaptive Sampling for Physics-Informed Neural Networks: A Robust Framework for Stiff PDEs

open access: yesMathematics
Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) often struggle with stiff partial differential equations (PDEs) exhibiting sharp gradients and extreme nonlinearities.

Haar wavelet method for solving stiff differential equations

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2009
Application of the Haar wavelet approach for solving stiff differential equations is discussed. Solution of singular perturbation problems is also considered.

Survey of Parallel Block Methods [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2010
The main purpose of this research is the survey of the development Block parallel numerical algorithms for solute stiff ordinary differential equations which are suitable for running on MIMD (Multiple instruction streams with multiple data streams ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Cardy-Verlinde Formula and Charged Topological AdS Black Holes

open access: yes, 2001
We consider the brane universe in the bulk background of the charged topological AdS black holes. The evolution of the brane universe is described by the Friedmann equations for a flat or an open FRW-universe containing radiation and stiff matter.

The numerical solution of stiff differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1969
The separate problem of stability and accuracy in numerical methods of approximating the solution of systems of non‐linear equations is then treated. Stress is laid on the consistently unsatisfactory results given by explicit methods for systems containing “stiff” equations, and implicit multistep methods are particularly recommended for this class of ...
