Error Analysis for a Stiff System Procedure [PDF]
The analysis of the local truncation error in a numerical scheme for integrating stiff differential equations, presented in a recent paper by Guderley and Hsu, holds only in special circumstances, but a more general analysis preserves the main conclusions. Several modifications of the scheme are also considered.

An Enhanced Adaptive Bernstein Collocation Method for Solving Systems of ODEs
In this paper, we introduce two new methods to solve systems of ordinary differential equations. The first method is constituted of the generalized Bernstein functions, which are obtained by Bernstein polynomials, and operational matrix of ...

Variable Step Block Hybrid Method for Stiff Chemical Kinetics Problems
Integration of a larger stiff system of initial value problems emerging from chemical kinetics models requires a method that is both efficient and accurate, with a large absolute stability region. To determine the solutions of the stiff chemical kinetics

Stiff systems of ordinary differential equations. III. Partially stiff systems [PDF]
AbstractThe partially stiff system of ordinary differential equationsis studied by the methods developed in the earlier papers in this series. Here e is a small positive parameter, x and y are n- and m-vectors respectively, and A is nonsingular. A useful basis for the solution space of the homogeneous system is constructed and the method of variation ...

A Portable Stiffness Measurement System [PDF]
A new stiffness measurement method is proposed that utilizes the lateral deformation profile of an object under indentation. The system consists of a force measurement module between a pair of equidistant touch sensing modules. Unique feature of the method is that by adjusting the touch module separation, indenter protrusion, and spring constant of the

Shoe Bending Stiffness Influence on Lower Extremity Energetics in Consecutive Jump Take-Off
Objective. This study examined the influence of shoe bending stiffness on lower extremity energetics in the take-off phase of consecutive jump. Methods. Fifteen basketball and volleyball players wearing control shoes and stiff shoes performed consecutive

Projective Integration for Hyperbolic Shallow Water Moment Equations
In free surface flows, shallow water models simplify the flow conditions by assuming a constant velocity profile over the water depth. Recently developed Shallow Water Moment Equations allow for variations of the velocity profile at the expense of a more
