Analysis and testing of a postbuckled stiffened panel

AIAA Journal, 2002
The suitability of using the efficient, linear elastic design software VICONOPT for the analysis of a stiffened panel with a postbuckling reserve of strength is investigated. A longitudinally compressed panel, which initially buckled in a local skin mode, was analyzed with allowance being made for the effects of an initial overall imperfection.

Evaluation of Bead-Stiffened Metal Panels

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1975
Potential weight efficiency for bead-stiffened panels has been demonstrated through fabrication and testing. Theoretically optimum design concepts were identified, and small specimens were tested under combined compression, shear, and bending to determine local buckling failure loads and to verify theory.

Stiffener Effectiveness Approach for Optimal Stiffener Placement on Curvilinear Stiffened Panel

50th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2009
Stiffened panels with curved stiffeners have shown a potential for structural tailoring of metallic panels. However, the optimal placement of the stiffener curves has remained a challenge, both due to the presence of multiple local minima in the design space, as well as the associated CPU cost to solve the problem. This paper presents a new approach to

Effect of Stiffener Geometry on the Response of Grid-Stiffened Panels

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2018
AbstractIt is well established that the lateral bending stiffness of thin panels is considerably enhanced by judicious use of ribs or stiffeners.
