Differential Equations of Stiffened Panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This text presents the theory used to implement in the LBR5 software an analytical solution of the stiffened panels governing equations. For that purpose, Fourier series expansions are used to solve the governing differential equations.

Osmotic Remodeling of Extracellular Vesicles for Precision Nanomedicine

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Hypotonic lysis in bidistilled water is used to remodel B lymphocyte–derived extracellular vesicles into cargo‐depleted, structurally preserved nanovesicles. The process reduces intraluminal proteins and nucleic acids, reshapes membrane composition, and enhances tumor‐cell uptake in vitro, while allowing proof‐of‐concept reloading with exogenous agents,

COMPRESSIVE TESTS ON LONG CONTINUOUS STIFFENED PANELS

open access: yes, 2020
Results are presented of 8 tests on long stiffened panels under axial compression until collapse. The specimens are three bay panels with associated plate made of very high tensile steel S690.

Mode Interaction with Stiffened Panels

open access: yes, 1976
Previous work on mode interaction refers to a column model consisting of two equal flanges. This model is extremely sensitive to imperfection. Actual panel structures are unsymmetrical: the plate side has more cross section than the topside of the stiffeners; and the plate side is more affected by local buckling than the topside.

RNA‐DNA Fusomer Fibers With Customizable Physicochemical, Mechanical, and Biological Properties for Next‐Generation Therapeutics

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We introduce RNA‐DNA fusomers, a new class of chemically synthesized oligonucleotides that combine the versatile properties of RNA and DNA within a single sequence and self‐assemble into higher‐order functional structures via a simple one‐pot annealing reaction.

The clashing of in situ and pre‐cast technologies—Western trends and local traditions in concrete engineering shaping shell construction in 20th‐century Hungary

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract After a blossoming pre‐World War II (WWII) period, the concrete construction industry in then‐socialist Hungary existed in a relative isolation from the Western World during the mid‐20th century. In this paper, we focus on the body of work of one of the then newly established state‐owned design offices, IPARTERV, to show how the isolation ...

Potentials and Limitation of FE-based Simulation Methods for Fibre Composite Structures

open access: yes, 2007
Current industrial demands for fibre composite primary structures in the area of aeronautics require innovative, experimentally validated simulation methods and tools, to support a cost and weight efficient design and to reduce their time-to-market ...

Effect of Cracks on the Compressive Ultimate Strength of Plate and Stiffened Panel Under Biaxial Loads: A Finite Element Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Crack damage can significantly reduce the ultimate strength of marine structures, potentially leading to progressive collapse. This study employs finite element analysis to investigate how cracks affect the strength of plates and stiffened panels under ...

Numerically efficient mechanical modeling of reinforced concrete membrane elements with fixed, interlocked cracks

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Compression field approaches such as the Cracked Membrane Model with fixed, interlocked cracks (CMM‐F) are efficient tools for the mechanical modeling of reinforced concrete elements, providing the mechanical model σ=fε$$ \boldsymbol{\upsigma} =f\left(\boldsymbol{\upvarepsilon} \right) $$ required for finite element analyses.
