Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Spontaneous photon emission stimulated by two Bose condensates

open access: yes, 1996
We show that the phase difference of two overlapping ground state Bose-Einstein condensates can effect the optical spontaneous emission rate of excited atoms.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Investigation of the influence of gold nanoparticles on stimulated luminescence of phenylamine 160 in ethanol

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Физика сериясы, 2023
Investigations of the influence nanoparticles of gold on the properties of stimulated emission of phenylamine 160 in ethanol were carried out. Au nanoparticle ablation gold targets were obtained in standard second harmonic solid laser ND.

A Radiative Cycle with Stimulated Emission from Atoms (Ions) in an astrophysical Plasma

open access: yes, 2002
We propose that a radiative cycle operates in atoms (ions) located in a rarefied gas in the vicinity of a hot star. Besides spontaneous transitions the cycle includes a stimulated transition in one very weak intermediate channel.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

AMMONIA MOLECULAR BEAM EPITAXY OF AlGaN HETEROSTRUCTURES ON SAPPHIRE SUBSTRATES

open access: yesДоклады Белорусского государственного университета информатики и радиоэлектроники, 2019
In order to develop a technology for the growth of Al(Ga)N-based heterostructures, the effect of different molecular beam epitaxy growth conditions on the properties of AlN and AlGaN layers was studied. The optimal conditions for the growth of AlN buffer

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Comment on "Particle acceleration by stimulated emission of radiation near a solid-state active medium"

open access: yes, 2011
In this Comment I suggest that the authors' proposition to have observed particle acceleration by stimulated emission of radiation (PASER) near a solid-state active medium is ...
