Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Ultraviolet Stimulated Emission from Sol-Gel Spin Coated ZnO Thin Films

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2017
Low cost ultraviolet stimulated emission has been generated using optical excitation of ZnO thin films deposited by sol-gel spin coating on n+ As-doped 100 Si-substrate.

Técnica de bombeio e prova para medidas de absorção de estado excitado e de emissão estimulada, em materiais sólidos dopados com íons terras raras Pump-probe technique for excited state absorption and stimulated emission measurements in rare earth ion doped solid materials

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2008
Rare earth ion doped solid state materials are the most important active media of near-infrared and visible lasers and other photonic devices. In these ions, the occurrence of Excited State Absorptions (ESA), from long lived electronic levels, is ...

Polarized Stimulated Emission of 2D Ensembles of Plasmonic Nanolasers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2021
Plasmonic nanolasers produce coherent light with wavelengths on a scale similar to their own or larger. In the past decade they have attracted intense interest, particularly from the emerging areas of integrated photonic circuits and biomedicine. Despite

Stimulated resonant inelastic x-ray scattering with chirped, broadband pulses

open access: yes, 2018
We present an approach for initiating and tracing ultra-fast electron dynamics in core-excited atoms, molecules and solids. The approach is based on stimulated resonant inelastic x-ray scattering induced by a single, chirped, broadband XUV/x-ray pulse. A

Electromagnetic Transition in Waveguide with Application to Lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The electromagnetic transition of two-level atomic systems in a waveguide is calculated. Compared with the result in free space, the spontaneous emission rate decrease because the phase space is smaller, and meanwhile, some resonance appears in some ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Stimulated emission from hexagonal silicon-germanium nanowires

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Hexagonal crystal phase silicon-germanium (hex-SiGe) features efficient direct bandgap emission between 1.5 and 3.4 µm. For expanding its application potential, the key challenge is to demonstrate material gain for enabling a hex-SiGe semiconductor laser.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
