Stimulated emission from nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond
Here Jeskeet al. show both theoretical and experimental evidence for stimulated emission from negatively charged nitrogen vacancy centres using light in the phonon sidebands around 700 nm, demonstrating its suitability as a laser medium.

Stimulated Emission Cross Section in Xenon-Neon Lasers
Gas Lasers are important tools that are used in variety purposes, for their low and (cw) output power. The aim of this study was to prepare a way to calculate an optimum stimulated emission cross-section in a gas laser containing a mixture of Xenon and ...

Stimulated Emission from a single excited atom in a waveguide
We study stimulated emission from an excited two-level atom coupled to a waveguide containing an incident single-photon pulse. We show that the strong photon correlation, as induced by the atom, plays a very important role in stimulated emission ...

Nonclassicality of induced coherence without induced emission
Interference of two beams produced at separate biphoton sources was first observed more than two decades ago. The phenomenon, often called "induced coherence without induced emission", has recently gained attention after its applications to imaging ...

Discovery of Pulsed OH Maser Emission Stimulated by a Pulsar [PDF]
Stimulated emission of radiation has not been directly observed in astrophysical situations up to this time. Here we demonstrate that photons from pulsar B1641-45 stimulate pulses of excess 1720 MHz line emission in an interstellar OH cloud.

Stimulated parametric emission microscopy
We propose a novel microscopy technique based on the four-wave mixing (FWM) process that is enhanced by two-photon electronic resonance induced by a pump pulse along with stimulated emission induced by a dump pulse. A Ti:sapphire laser and an optical parametric oscillator are used as light sources for the pump and dump pulses, respectively.

Optimal Quantum Cloning via Stimulated Emission [PDF]
We show that optimal universal quantum cloning can be realized via stimulated emission. Universality of the cloning procedure is achieved by choosing systems that have appropriate symmetries.

ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...

EUV stimulated emission from MgO pumped by FEL pulses
Stimulated emission is a fundamental process in nature that deserves to be investigated and understood in the extreme ultra-violet (EUV) and x-ray regimes.

Purcell Effect in the Stimulated and Spontaneous Emission Rates of Nanoscale Semiconductor Lasers [PDF]
Nanoscale semiconductor lasers have been developed recently using either metal, metallo-dielectric or photonic crystal nanocavities. While the technology of nanolasers is steadily being deployed, their expected performance for on-chip optical ...
