Laser-diode-stimulated emission depletion microscopy [PDF]
We report subdiffraction resolution in far-field fluorescence microscopy through laser-diode-stimulated emission depletion of molecular markers. The diode-generated focal intensities lead to a resolution improvement by similar to45% in both lateral ...

Balancing the Number of Quantum Wells in HgCdTe/CdHgTe Heterostructures for Mid-Infrared Lasing
HgCdTe-based heterostructures with quantum wells (QWs) are a promising material for semiconductor lasers in the atmospheric transparency window (3–5 μm) thanks to the possibility of suppressing Auger recombination due to the no-parabolic law of carrier ...

The problem of dating quartz 1 : Spectroscopic ionoluminescence of dose dependence [PDF]
This work is partially supported by NERC studentship F008589/1.A suite of quartz samples of different provenances, irradiation, thermal and depositional histories were analysed using spectroscopic ionoluminescence (IL) to investigate variations in ...

Understanding High-Gain Twin-Beam Sources Using Cascaded Stimulated Emission
We present a new method for the spectral characterization of pulsed twin-beam sources in the high-gain regime, using cascaded stimulated emission. We show an implementation of this method for a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate spontaneous ...

Optical Gain in Semiconducting Polymer Nano and Mesoparticles
The presence of excited-states and charge-separated species was identified through UV and visible laser pump and visible/near-infrared probe femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy in spin coated films of poly[N-9″-heptadecanyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5 ...

Stimulation Emission Depleted Photoacoustic
We demonstrate that the Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) concept, which is usually invoked for fluorescence, can be extended to photoacoustic effects. When two-nanosecond pulses of exciting and stimulating light are synchronized, 80% of the acoustic signal generated through excited state absorption (ESA) can be quenched.

Controlling molecular broadband-emission by optical confinement [PDF]
We investigate experimentally and theoretically the fluorescence emitted by molecular ensembles as well as spatially isolated, single molecules of an organic dye immobilized in a quasi-planar optical microresonator at room temperature.
