Equivalence of Narcissistic Personality Inventory constructs and correlates across scoring approaches and response formats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The prevalent scoring practice for the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) ignores the forced-choice nature of the items. The aim of this study was to investigate whether findings based on NPI scores reported in previous research can be confirmed ...

Testing Stimulus Equivalence in Transformer-Based Agents

open access: yesFuture Internet
This study investigates the ability of transformer-based models (TBMs) to form stimulus equivalence (SE) classes. We employ BERT and GPT as TBM agents in SE tasks, evaluating their performance across training structures (linear series, one-to-many and ...

Modal Similarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Just as Boolean rules define Boolean categories, the Boolean operators define higher-order Boolean categories referred to as modal categories. We examine the similarity order between these categories and the standard category of logical identity (i.e ...

Optimal measurement of visual motion across spatial and temporal scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sensory systems use limited resources to mediate the perception of a great variety of objects and events. Here a normative framework is presented for exploring how the problem of efficient allocation of resources can be solved in visual perception ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Emotional Faces in Symbolic Relations: A Happiness Superiority Effect Involving the Equivalence Paradigm

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
The stimulus equivalence paradigm presented operational criteria to identify symbolic functions in observable behaviors. When humans match dissimilar stimuli (e.g., words to pictures), equivalence relations between those stimuli are likely to be ...

STIMULUS EQUIVALENCE AND ARBITRARILY APPLICABLE RELATIONAL RESPONDING [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 1991
Subjects' responses to nonarbitrary stimulus relations of sameness, oppositeness, or difference were brought under contextual control. In the presence of the SAME context, selecting the same comparison as the sample was reinforced. In the presence of the OPPOSITE context, selecting a comparison as far from the sample as possible on the physical ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Is conscious stimulus identification dependent on knowledge of the perceptual modality? Testing the source misidentifcation hypothesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
This paper reports an experiment intended to test a particular hypothesis derived from blindsight research, which we name the source misidentification hypothesis.

An Investigation into the relationship between the gender binary and occupational discrimination using the implicit relational assessment procedure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The social construction of gender-as-binary plays an important role within many contemporary theories of gender inequality. However, to date, the field of psychology has struggled with the operationalization and assessment of binarist ideologies.
