Efficacy of deterrents for mitigating human‐polar bear conflict in northern Alaska
Polar bears are coming to land in higher numbers and staying longer due to sea ice loss. This is leading to increased levels of human‐polar bear conflict in northern communities. We sought to understand the efficacy of standard deterrent methods and factors that affect how responsive polar bears are to hazing.
