Dynamics of a driven Stirling engine
2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015We study the nonlinear dynamics of an idealized driven Stirling engine model. The model is analogous to an oscillator with a nonlinear dependence of the spring constant on the state and input signal, with a rich complexity of behaviors depending on frequency ratios and amplitudes.

<div class="htmlview paragraph">The history of the Stirling engine is briefly reviewed, together with the theory of the engine, and the Stirling cycle. The Stirling and Carnot cycles are compared. The Stirling engine and its operation are discussed, and several recommendations are made, among which: the output work would be increased by ...

The literature of Stirling engines
Proceedings of the 24th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2003The extensive collection of literature on Stirling engines accumulated over the past half century is reviewed. The principal sources of information and the core literature are covered, and, for those new to the subject, guidance regarding availability and access to the data is provided. >

Micro Combined Heat and Power systems or microCHP systems generate heat and electricity for a home. Stirling engines are widely used as prime movers in microCHP applications. Stirling engine is an external combustion engine having an enclosed working fluid (as helium) that is alternately compressed and expanded to operate a piston.

Modeling a Stirling Engine for Cogeneration Applications
Volume 6: Energy, Parts A and B, 2012The interest on decentralized power generation technology has been drastically increasing over the last few years. This great interest is due to the necessity of achieving new ways for improving energy efficiency, the national security of energy supply and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
