Overview of the 1985 NASA Lewis Research Center SP-100 free-piston Stirling engine activities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
This effort is keyed on the design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of a 25 kWe Stirling space-power technology-feasibility demonstrator engine. Another facet of the SP-100 project covers the status of a 9000-hr endurance test conducted on a 2 kWe ...

Proteomic and Transcriptomic Signatures of Poor Asthma Symptom Control in the U‐BIOPRED Cohort

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
No stable features were identified as associated with asthma symptom control in transcriptomics or sputum proteomics. Higher TWEAKR/TNFRSF12A and MBL/MBP‐C serum levels increased the odds of uncontrolled symptoms, while higher MK08/MAPK8 and CD5L serum levels decreased the odds, after adjustment for clinical variables.

Numerical thermodynamic model of alpha-type Stirling engine

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2018
The objective of this study is to develop accurate practical thermodynamic model for alpha-type Stirling engine with Ross Yoke mechanism. Thermal, pumping, and regeneration loses are considered in developing the thermodynamic model.

A Theoretical and Experimental Study of Moderate Temperature Alfa Type Stirling Engines

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The Stirling engine is a device that allows conversion of thermal energy into mechanical energy with relatively high efficiency. Existing commercial designs are mainly based on the usage of high temperature heat sources, whose availability from renewable

Leveraging the ADAM10 prodomain for selective inhibition to enhance recovery after myocardial infarction

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Inflammation plays a crucial role in the development and progression of numerous acute and chronic diseases such as myocardial infarction (MI) and heart failure. Targeting ADAM proteases, particularly ADAM10, holds promise for fine‐tuning inflammatory responses.

Expert Memories: The Professional Construction of the Past and the Mnemonic Making of Occupations

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article introduces the special issue on occupations and memory in organizations. To foster increasing collaboration from scholars from both fields, we offer a general argument connecting memory and occupations on two levels. At the societal level, we show how memory experts, such as historians, archivists, and museologists, have played a ...

Stirling Engine Configuration Selection [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Unlike internal combustion engines, Stirling engines can be designed to work with many drive mechanisms based on the three primary configurations, alpha, beta and gamma. Hundreds of different combinations of configuration and mechanical drives have been proposed. Few succeed beyond prototypes.

Time‐Varying Dispersion Integer‐Valued GARCH Models

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We introduce a general class of INteger‐valued Generalized AutoRegressive Conditionally Heteroscedastic (INGARCH) processes by allowing simultaneously time‐varying mean and dispersion parameters. We call such models time‐varying dispersion INGARCH (tv‐DINGARCH) models.

Analysis of Stirling engine’s performance in recovering waste heat from wood pellet, coconut husk and bagasse

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
In recent years, industrial boilers that generate power from biomass have drawn a lot of attention. Nevertheless, a sizable portion of thermal energy is frequently lost to the environment as flue gas throughout the process.
