Usage of Fusible Sewing Threads to Improve the Waterproof Property of Seam

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2020
In classical stitching process, needle holes occur during the penetration of the needle through the fabric. If the waterproofness of the sewn product is important, the water leakage from these holes must be prevented.

Programming mechanics in knitted materials, stitch by stitch

open access: yesNature Communications
AbstractKnitting turns yarn, a 1D material, into a 2D fabric that is flexible, durable, and can be patterned to adopt a wide range of 3D geometries. Like other mechanical metamaterials, the elasticity of knitted fabrics is an emergent property of the local stitch topology and pattern that cannot solely be attributed to the yarn itself.

An All‐Textile, Mechano‐Capacitive Subtle Movement Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust all‐textile capacitive sensor is introduced for measuring subtle body movements without long‐term degradation. By separating mechanical deformation from electrical sensing elements, accuracy, responsiveness, and durability are improved. Simple fabrication methods are presented, electrode effects are analyzed, and performance is validated ...

Nanoscale Spatial Tuning of Superconductivity in Cuprate Thin Films via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Maskless direct laser writing enables local control of oxygen stoichiometry in epitaxial YBCO thin films under ambient conditions. Sub‐micrometer grayscale patterns with tunable optical response and superconducting transport properties are achieved.

Geometric and scale effects on energy absorption of structural composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDThe challenge faced by structural designers is becoming increasingly difficult as the imposed design criteria of energy absorbing structures requires weight reduction of structures without compromising cost and crushing performance.

Stitching interferometry of cylindrical surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
High resolution and high precision are advantages of measuring cylindrical objects employing stitching interferometry. However, due to errors in the cylinder position in a measurement procedure, it is difficult to ensure the accuracy of a macroscopic ...
