Study on the Crevice Corrosion Behavior of 316L Stainless Steel used on Marine Gas Turbine Inlet Filters by Stochastic Methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2011
The crevice corrosion behavior of 316L stainless steel (316L SS) which used on marine gas turbine inlet filters was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution by means of potentiodynamic polarization and potentiostatic technology, and the experimental data were ...

Stochastic analysis

open access: yesMathematical Modelling, 1980
AbstractThe usual definitions of statistical measures of stochastic processes (expectation, covariance, etc.) are extended in a form more appropriate to stochastic processes; properties such as statistical independence, stationary, and ergodicity are discussed in terms of the new definitions, analytical representations for probability distributions are

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.

Spectral Approach to Fractional Power of Operator and Its Matrix Approximation

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This article is devoted to constructing the fractional powers of operators and their matrix approximations. A key feature of this study is the use of a spectral approach that remains applicable even when the base operator does not generate a semigroup ...

Stratification: An Entropic View of Society’s Structure

open access: yesWorld, 2021
In human societies, we observe a wide range of types of stratification, i.e., in terms of financial class, political power, level of education, sanctity, and military force.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO FORECASTING DYNAMICS OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES EXCHANGE RATE USING STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS TOOLS (ON THE EXAMPLE OF BITCOIN)

open access: yesФинансы: теория и практика, 2018
The accelerated pace of development of the cryptocurrency market and its integration into the system of economic, operational, financial and other processes determines the need for a comprehensive study of this phenomenon.

Spatial Hurst–Kolmogorov Clustering

open access: yesEncyclopedia, 2021
The stochastic analysis in the scale domain (instead of the traditional lag or frequency domains) is introduced as a robust means to identify, model and simulate the Hurst–Kolmogorov (HK) dynamics, ranging from small (fractal) to large scales exhibiting ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
