Stochastic Analysis of Cylindrical Shell

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Civil Engineering Series, 2014
The paper deals with some chosen aspects of stochastic structural analysis and its application in the engineering practice. The main aim of the study is to apply the generalized stochastic perturbation techniques based on classical Taylor expansion with ...

Finite Difference Approximation for Linear Stochastic Partial Differential Equations with Method of Lines [PDF]

open access: yes
A stochastic partial differential equation, or SPDE, describes the dynamics of a stochastic process defined on a space-time continuum. This paper provides a new method for solving SPDEs based on the method of lines (MOL).

Finite element surface registration incorporating curvature, volume preservation, and statistical model information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a novel method for nonrigid registration of 3D surfaces and images. The method can be used to register surfaces by means of their distance images, or to register medical images directly.

DRIVE‐SAFE: Data‐Driven Robustness and Informed Validation for Evolving Specifications via Formal Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
DRIVE‐SAFE evaluates learning‐based, black‐box autonomous driving policies against evolving temporal safety requirements using Signal Temporal Logic robustness metrics. It aggregates distributional robustness measures with domain‐informed weights to guide iterative retraining.

Application of Stochastic Finite Element Method to the Analysis of Magnetic Field

open access: yesIEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1986
This paper describes application of the stochastic finite element method to a magnetic field analysis. The dimensions or the material constants of a magnetic device are considered as probabilistic space-stochastic processes. When magnetic permeability provides uncertain distribution on the surface or in the body of the magnetic material, the ...

Practical guidance on the application of R-K integration method in finite element analysis of creep damage problem [PDF]

open access: yes
A practical user guidance of Runge-Kutta (R-K) integration method with the context of non-linear time dependent finite element analysis (FEA) was proposed in this paper.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Finite volume method for solving the stochastic Helmholtz equation

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
In this paper, we consider the linear finite volume method (FVM) for the stochastic Helmholtz equation, driven by white noise perturbed forcing terms in one-dimension. We first deduce the linear FVM for the deterministic Helmholtz problem. The dispersion

Semi-analytical Complex Variable Based Stochastic Finite Element Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The stochastic finite element method (SFEM) is an approach that allows an analyst to define material, load, and geometry parameters as random variables to represent uncertainty in an engineering problem.

A Pollen‐Enhanced Bionic Mechanoreceptor Induced by Asymmetric Ionic Convection in Hydrogel for Sensory‐Augmented Prostheses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposed a pollen‐enhanced bionic mechanoreceptor based on ionic convection. Leveraging the ion anchoring effect of the pollen particle, the output performance could be ∼12 times higher than the original state. By employing deep learning models as AI brains, the feasibility of a sensory‐augmented prosthesis consisting of a pollen‐enhanced ...
