Demographic buffering in natural populations: A multi‐level perspective

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
We introduce a multi‐level framework that unites stochastic elasticities with nonlinear selection to test demographic buffering. Applying it across mammals reveals a key insight: ecological robustness to variability often decouples from evolutionary constraint, reshaping how we understand resilience under environmental stochasticity.

Environmental Total Factor Productivity and the Cost‐Effectiveness of GHG Emission Reduction: The Case of Crop Production in China

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT China's diversified agricultural policies have effectively improved both the yield and environmental performance of the crop sector. Quantifying productivity trends and their drivers is key to formulating strategies for high‐quality and low‐carbon crop development.

The Impact of Credit and Training on Farmers Efficiency: A Semi‐Parametric Meta‐Frontier Analysis

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Smallholder farmers in developing countries face several constraints, which affect their productivity. To reduce these constraints and enhance productivity, government and non‐governmental agencies implement programmes that provide credit and training to farmers.

Is Technological Heterogeneity the Key to Sustainable Coffee Production Efficiency?: A Latent Class Frontier Analysis in the Traditional Coffee Region of Colombia

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coffee producers deal with uncertainty due to high volatility in coffee prices. To navigate these challenges, producers must balance the tradeoff between higher yield and better quality utilising heterogeneous technologies, such as intensive production methods and environmental management practices.

Environmental Performance Evaluation Under the Frontier Analysis Framework: A Farm‐Level Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantifying and improving the environmental performance (EP) of agriculture has become an urgent research and policy priority. Over the past three decades, frontier‐based analytical frameworks have been widely applied to evaluate farm‐level EP.
