A decomposition-based warm-start method for stochastic programming

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we propose a warm-start technique for interior point methods applicable to multi-stage stochastic linear programming problems. The main idea is to generate an initial point by decomposing the problem at the second stage and using an ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

A Model-Based Stochastic Augmented Lagrangian Method for Online Stochastic Optimization

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we focus on online stochastic optimization problems in which random parameters follow time-varying distributions. In each round t, a decision is obtained from solving the current optimization problem.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Stochastic Intermediate Gradient Method for Convex Problems with Stochastic Inexact Oracle

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we introduce new methods for convex optimization problems with stochastic inexact oracle. Our first method is an extension of the Intermediate Gradient Method proposed by Devolder, Glineur and Nesterov for problems with deterministic ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Stochastic time–frequency-entropy feature extraction method [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Entropy-based feature extraction methods have shown marked effectiveness across various fields. However, entropy measures are susceptible to noise interference and typically consider only time-domain information, which leads to suboptimal feature ...
