New Approaches of Stochastic Models to Examine the Vibration Features in Roller Bearings

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Machinery components undergo wear and tear over time due to regular usage, necessitating the establishment of a robust prognosis framework to enhance machinery health and avert catastrophic failures.

New pesticides regulation: potential economic impacts of the withdrawal of Pendimethalin in horticultural crops

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2014
The Thematic Strategy on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides moves forward towards the sustainability of agriculture fostering the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices in the European Union (EU).

Stochastic epidemic models: a survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper is a survey paper on stochastic epidemic models. A simple stochastic epidemic model is defined and exact and asymptotic model properties (relying on a large community) are presented.

Variational Principles for Stochastic Fluid Dynamics

open access: yes, 2015
This paper derives stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) for fluid dynamics from a stochastic variational principle (SVP). The Legendre transform of the Lagrangian formulation of these SPDEs yields their Lie-Poisson Hamiltonian form.

Stochastic exclusion processes versus coherent transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stochastic exclusion processes play an integral role in the physics of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. These models are Markovian processes, described by a classical master equation.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Fractional Skyrmion Tubes in Chiral‐Interfaced 3D Magnetic Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In chiral 3D helical magnetic nanowires, the coupling between the geometric and magnetic chirality provides a way to create topological spin states like vortex tubes. Here, it is demonstrated how the breaking of this coupling in interfaced 3D nanowires of opposite chirality leads to even more complex topological spin states, such as fractional ...

A stochastic variational framework for fitting and diagnosing generalized linear mixed models

open access: yes, 2014
In stochastic variational inference, the variational Bayes objective function is optimized using stochastic gradient approximation, where gradients computed on small random subsets of data are used to approximate the true gradient over the whole data set.

Symmetries of stochastic colored vertex models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We discover a new property of the stochastic colored six-vertex model called flip-invariance. We use it to show that for a given collection of observables of the model, any transformation that preserves the distribution of each individual observable also

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.
