Optimal Control Algorithm for Stochastic Systems with Parameter Drift

open access: yesSensors, 2023
A novel optimal control problem is considered for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) stochastic systems with mixed parameter drift, external disturbance and observation noise.

Tractable Dual Optimal Stochastic Model Predictive Control: An Example in Healthcare

open access: yes, 2017
Output-Feedback Stochastic Model Predictive Control based on Stochastic Optimal Control for nonlinear systems is computationally intractable because of the need to solve a Finite Horizon Stochastic Optimal Control Problem.

Safety-Aware Optimal Control of Stochastic Systems Using Conditional Value-at-Risk [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Control Conference, 2018
In this paper, we consider a multi-objective control problem for stochastic systems that seeks to minimize a cost of interest while ensuring safety. We introduce a novel measure of safety risk using the conditional value-at-risk and a set distance to ...

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Domain decomposition for stochastic optimal control [PDF]

open access: yes53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014
This work proposes a method for solving linear stochastic optimal control (SOC) problems using sum of squares and semidefinite programming. Previous work had used polynomial optimization to approximate the value function, requiring a high polynomial degree to capture local phenomena.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Infinite Horizon Optimal Control of Stochastic Delay Evolution Equations in Hilbert Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
The aim of the present paper is to study an infinite horizon optimal control problem in which the controlled state dynamics is governed by a stochastic delay evolution equation in Hilbert spaces.

Stochastic recursive optimal control problem with obstacle constraint involving diffusion type control

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
This paper concerns a kind of stochastic optimal control problem with recursive utility described by a reflected backward stochastic differential equation (RBSDE, for short) involving diffusion type control which covers regular control problem, singular ...

Optimal Control Problems of Forward-Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Optimal control problems of forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short) are formulated and studied. A general duality principle is established for linear backward stochastic integral equation and linear stochastic Fredholm ...

Fractional Skyrmion Tubes in Chiral‐Interfaced 3D Magnetic Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In chiral 3D helical magnetic nanowires, the coupling between the geometric and magnetic chirality provides a way to create topological spin states like vortex tubes. Here, it is demonstrated how the breaking of this coupling in interfaced 3D nanowires of opposite chirality leads to even more complex topological spin states, such as fractional ...
