Multivariate hazard orderings of discrete random vectors [PDF]

open access: yes
The task of comparing two random vectors with respect to some multivariate stochastic ordering usually involves an infinite number of comparisons. Dyckerhoff and Mosler (1997) proved that, when the random vectors have finite supports, this task, for some

Time‐Resolved Magnetization Switching Dynamics Driven by Orbital Torques

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Du et al. reveal nanosecond magnetization switching driven by orbital currents using time‐resolved Hall detection. The measurements separate domain nucleation from domain wall propagation and show that Joule heating strongly assists switching by lowering energy barriers.

Mesoscale Domain Evolution Mechanism during Alternating Current (AC) Poling of Relaxor Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric domain variants that are energetically equivalent are expected to remain preserved during polarization reversal. However, phase‐field simulations reveal that inclined domain walls in relaxor ferroelectrics can undergo irreversible elimination during alternating current poling through a proximity effect driven by long‐range elastic ...

Preservation properties of stochastic orders by transformation to Harris family

open access: yes, 2018
Stochastic comparisons of lifetime characteristics of reliability systems and their components are of common use in lifetime analysis. In this paper, using Harris family distributions, we compare lifetimes of two series systems with random number of ...

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Dispersive functions and stochastic orders

open access: yes, 1997
Generalizations of the hazard functions are proposed and general hazard rate orders are introduced. Some stochastic orders are defined as general ones. A unified derivation of relations between the dispersive order and some other orders of distributions ...

Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.

The multi-path Traveling Salesman Problem with stochastic travel costs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Given a set of nodes, where each pair of nodes is connected by several paths and each path shows a stochastic travel cost with unknown distribution, the multipath Traveling Salesman Problem with stochastic travel costs aims at finding an expected minimum
