Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Distributionally robust multi-stage stochastic programming for mid- and long-term cross-regional power markets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The widespread integration of renewable energy sources (RESs) has presented significant challenges in deregulated power markets. The inherent uncertainty of RES poses challenges for clearing cross-temporal and cross-regional transactions, manifesting as ...

Regression based scenario generation: Applications for performance management

open access: yesOperations Research Perspectives, 2019
Regression analysis is a common tool in performance management and measurement in industry. Many firms wish to optimise their performance using Stochastic Programming but to the best of our knowledge there exists no scenario generation method for ...

Robust two-stage stochastic linear programs with moment constraints [PDF]

open access: yesOptimization, 2014
We consider the two-stage stochastic linear programming model, in which the recourse function is a worst case expected value over a set of probabilistic distributions. These distributions share the same first- and second-order moments. By using duality of semi-infinite programming and assuming knowledge on extreme points of the dual polyhedron of the ...

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Robustness Analysis of Stochastic Programs with Joint Probabilistic Constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Due to their frequently observed lack of convexity and/or smoothness, stochastic programs with joint probabilistic constraints have been considered as a hard type of constrained optimization problems, which are rather demanding both from the computational and robustness point of view.
