Stock Assessment Using LBB Method for Eight Fish Species From the Bohai and Yellow Seas

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
Eight common and commercially important marine fishes from coastal and offshore areas of Shandong Province, China, were assessed using the “Length-based Bayesian Biomass” estimator (LBB) method.

Predicting unseen chub mackerel densities through spatiotemporal machine learning: Indications of potential hyperdepletion in catch-per-unit-effort due to fishing ground contraction

open access: yesEcological Informatics
In fisheries management, accurate estimates of fish stock abundances are crucial for sustainable harvesting practices. Traditional methods often rely on catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) data, assuming fishing effort is uniformly distributed across the stock ...

Torres Strait Finfish Fishery: Spanish mackerel stock assessment, with data to June 2022. Year Two Report. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The Torres Strait Spanish mackerel fishery commenced in 1941. The fishery for Spanish mackerel is by line fishing only and managed as a single stock. Spanish mackerel are important to the Torres Strait people and fishing culture. They are an economic and

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Modelling of stock dynamics for spiny king crab Paralithodes brevipes at southern Kuril Islands using a finite-difference model with delay

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2016
The information on fishery object limited by CPUE data and fragmentary data on age and size is sufficient for production models. However, this type of models is improper for long-living species, as crabs, because of problem with assumption on equilibrium

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Stock assessment of sardine (Sardina pilchardus, Walb.) in the Adriatic Sea with an estimate of discards

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2005
Analytical stock assessment of sardine (Sardina pilchardus, Walb.) in the Adriatic Sea from 1975 to 1999 was performed taking into account the occurrence of discarding at sea of sardine caught by the Italian fleet.
