Evolutional algorithm in stock control
Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems, 2011Evolutional algorithms are an excellent optimization tool performing well in such tasks where classic methods have no use. In this thesis the use of those algorithms in stock control was presented for the problem of stochastic function of cost criterion. Such functions are used in case of random demand with a constant delivery period.

Stock control is almost a mandatory chapter of OR text books, yet remains a tool that practitioners seemingly leave permanently in their toolbox.

Stock Control Using the Stock Level Frequency Distribution
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1980Stock level frequency distributions are derived for continuous review stock control policies in which the lead time demand is normally distributed. The percentage points of the distributions have been tabulated, and the table can be used to determine the reorder point that will meet a specified customer order quantity from stock with a specified ...

The successful working of most firms and large organisations depends upon keeping stocks: of goods for sale, as with a multiple-shop system; material for internal use, as with stationery for a government office; or raw materials, components and semi-finished goods, as with a production factory.

A well-known replenishment policy for an inventory subject to probabilistic demand gives rise to the problem of determining an order quantity and a reorder level which minimize the average cost of keeping inventory. If the problem can be expressed in terms of a simple approximative model which includes a restriction on back-orders and represents demand

Stock control practice and procedure
1978To apply in practice the principles of stock management a great deal of data has to be produced regularly and reliably. Thousands of things may be held in stock. Some are held against solid regular needs, others against doubtful and intermittent requirements. Buyers need to know which items to order and when to order them. Someone must have enough data

This chapter is not intended as a dissertation on the techniques of production or stock control, but simply to indicate to the man involved in problems of materials handling that many of these, particularly those concerned with production processes, have their roots in one or both of these fields.
