Fish stocking density impacts tank hydrodynamics

open access: yesAquaculture, 2006
The effect of stocking density upon the hydrodynamics of a circular tank, configured in a recirculation system, was investigated. Red drums Sciaenops ocellatus of approximately 140 g wet weight, were stocked at five rates varying from 0 to 12 kg m-3.

Stocking density-dependent growth of Dover sole (Solea solea)

open access: yesAquaculture, 2006
Dover sole were reared at 6 different stocking densities between 0.56 and 12.6 kg/m2 with duplicate tanks for each treatment. The experiment lasted for 55 days.

Suitable stocking density of tilapia in an aquaponic system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An aquaponic system was studied through the integrated culture of mono-sex GIFT and two types of vegetables viz. morning glory, Ipomoea reptans and taro, Colocasia esculenta in a recirculating system for 15 weeks. Tilapia fry of uniform size of 0.76 g were released in three treatments (stocking densities): 106 fish/m³ (T1), 142 fish/m³ (T2) and 177 ...

Stocking density matters in open water cage culture: Influence on growth, digestive enzymes, haemato-immuno and stress responses of Puntius sarana (Ham, 1822)

Aquaculture, 2022
A 90 days trial was carried out to investigate the impact of stocking density on growth performances and the health status of Puntius sarana in inland open water cages (Salia Dam of Odisha, India).

Earthworm stocking density regulates microbial community structure and fatty acid profiles during vermicomposting of lignocellulosic waste: Unraveling the microbe-metal and mineralization-humification interactions.

Bioresource Technology, 2022
Earthworm-induced microbial enrichment is the key to success in vermitechnology, yet the influence of initial earthworm stocking density on microbial community profiles in vermibeds is unknown.

Stocking density for arapaima larviculture

Aquaculture, 2020
Abstract Inadequate stock density in fish larviculture can cause a dominant behavior that harms feeding and results in stress, lots of heterogeneous fish and low productive rates. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of stocking densities on growth performance, cortisol levels and arapaima (Arapaima gigas) larvae production cost.

Determination of suitable stocking density for good aquaculture practice-based carp fattening in ponds under drought-prone areas of Bangladesh

Aquaculture, 2022
Stocking larger sized fish in fattening along with good aquaculture practices (GAP) are considered potentials for achieving sustainable and safe fish production under the climatically challenged drought-prone areas where the maintenance of optimal water ...

The effects of stocking density on fish welfare

open access: yes, 2011
The welfare of intensively farmed fish is a subject of increasing interest and one of the principal areas of concern is stocking density. Several studies have examined the effects of density on the welfare of farmed fish, and have found it to be a source

Effects of dietary ginger (Zingiber officinale) administration on growth performance and stress, immunological, and antioxidant responses of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) reared under high stocking density

Aquaculture, 2020
In the present study, the effects of ginger (Zingiber officinale) on stress, antioxidant, humoral immune and cytokine responses of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) under high stocking density were investigated.
