Testing muscle tone and mechanical properties of rectus femoris and biceps femoris using a novel hand held MyotonPRO device: relative ratios and reliability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Purpose: To use a novel, non-invasive hand held device (MyotonPRO) to quantify ratios of relative non-neural tone and mechanical properties of the rectus femoris (RF) and biceps femoris (BF) muscles, and to assess reliability of a novice user.Relevance ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

High speed partial Stokes imaging using a ferroelectric liquid crystal modulator [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2008
This paper describes the implementation of an imaging polarimeter using a single ferroelectric liquid crystal light modulator. It provides partial imaging Stokes information at 234 Hz, much faster than polarimeters using nematic light modulators.

Stokes parameters and Stokes operators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
It is shown that the description of polarization based on quantization of classical Stokes parameters is incomplete in quantum domain. For example, the polarization of the electric dipole radiation of the atomic or molecular transitions is described by ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Light polarization and stokes parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Knowledge in optics and basic electromagnetic theoryThe polarization state of an electromagnetic wave can conveniently be described by a set of Stokes parameters. On the left, the polarization ellipse describes the motion of the optical electric field in

Stokes Parameters and Gibbs Bivectors

open access: yesIrish Mathematical Society Bulletin, 1996
Summary: For a single monochromatic wave train, it is shown that the use of Gibbs bivectors leads in a natural and economical way to the introduction of Stokes parameters.

Spin Injection Of Exciton–Polaritons With Halide Perovskites At Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A monolithic Tamm‐plasmon microcavity embedding a two‐dimensional halide perovskite enables room‐temperature spin injection of exciton‐polaritons under quasi‐resonant optical excitation. Polarization‐resolved spectroscopy reveals partial preservation of the injected spin in the lower polariton branch, while bare excitons remain fully depolarized.

High Precision Stokes Polarimetry for Scattering Light using Wide Dynamic Range Intensity Detector

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
This paper proposes a Stokes polarimetry for scattering light from a sample surface. To achieve a high accuracy measurement two approaches of an intensity detector and analysis algorism of a Stokes parameter were proposed.
