Classification of red beet and sugar beet for drought tolerance using morpho-physiological and stomatal traits [PDF]
Drought is a global phenomenon that endangers agricultural production by creating water scarcity. Selecting drought-tolerant cultivars, varieties, and species is essential for maintaining the food supply and advancing breeding efforts. The study aimed to

Hypersensitive to red and blue 1 and its modification by protein phosphatase 7 are implicated in the control of Arabidopsis stomatal aperture. [PDF]
The stomatal pores are located on the plant leaf epidermis and regulate CO(2) uptake for photosynthesis and the loss of water by transpiration. Their stomatal aperture therefore affects photosynthesis, water use efficiency, and agricultural crop yields ...

Stomatal vs. genome size in angiosperms: the somatic tail wagging the genomic dog? [PDF]
Genome size is a function, and the product, of cell volume. As such it is contingent on ecological circumstance. The nature of 'this ecological circumstance' is, however, hotly debated. Here, we investigate for angiosperms whether stomatal size may be this 'missing link': the primary determinant of genome size.

Stomatal Number and Size of Ornamental Dicotyledons Plant in Pontianak West Kalimantan
Greening in an urban area is a very important role in regulating temperature around. However, not all plants provide the same level of cooling. Cooling environmental temperature can be influenced by transpiration. This study aimed to measure the transpiration rate of dicotyledon plants. The method was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with

This retrospective study identified low preoperative psoas muscle volume, measured by computed tomography, as an independent predictor of postoperative complications in patients undergoing emergency surgery for strangulated small bowel obstruction. Low psoas muscle volume, particularly in older adults, was associated with cardiopulmonary and systemic ...

Evolutionary conservation of ABA signaling for stomatal closure in ferns [PDF]
ABA-driven stomatal regulation reportedly evolved after the divergence of ferns, during the early evolution of seed plants approximately 360 Mya. This hypothesis is based on the observation that the stomata of certain fern species are unresponsive to ABA,

This study investigates the prognostic utility of a novel volumetric indicator—psoas volume index (PVI)—for assessing sarcopenia in elderly rectal cancer patients. Sarcopenia classified by our proposed PVI cut‐off values was associated with poor nutritional and inflammatory status, and patients with low PVI showed significantly worse long‐term outcomes.

Intensity of Vascular Streak Dieback in Different Cocoa Clones and Various Agro-climatic Conditions [PDF]
Vascular streak dieback (VSD) is one of the main diseases on cocoa. This disease can produce a heavy damage in susceptible plants. Agro-climatic condition influences the VSD disease severity level.

Perforated colorectal cancer (PCC) is considered to have a poor prognosis; however, it remains unclear whether this is attributable to perforation itself or to perforation‐related clinicopathological factors. In this study, we analyzed prognosis using propensity score matching with perforation‐related factors and demonstrated that perforation is an ...
