Modal Logics of Stone Spaces

Order, 2011
A Stone space is an image of a Boolean algebra under Stone duality. Using their previous results, the authors characterize modal propositional logics of Stone spaces. For a metrizable Stone space \(X\) its logic is S4 if \(X\) is not weakly scattered, and is S4 or S4.\({\mathrm{Grz}_n}\) for some \(n>1\) if \(X\) is scattered.

Nutrition and renal stone disease in space

Nutrition, 2002
There is a growing body of evidence from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Russian space program showing that humans exposed to the microgravity environment of space have a greater risk for developing renal stones. Increased bone resorption and the attendant hypercalciuria and hyperphosphaturia contribute significantly to ...

Rigid Stone Spaces within ZFC

Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1988
We construct within ZFC a family of pairwise nonhomeomorphic dense-in- itself rigid extremally disconnected compact separable spaces. Any such space is determined by a sequence of weak P-points of \(N^*\) having different types.
