“We Cannot Talk as a Family”: Complexities of Survivorship Communication Among Hispanic/Latino Young Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer, Parents, and Clinicians

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Young adult childhood cancer survivors (YA‐CCS) have an increased risk of treatment‐related health complications throughout their lives. Lifelong survivorship care is recommended, yet many YA‐CCS experience disruptions in care during pediatric‐to‐adult transitions and do not receive recommended survivorship care.

A SAS Macro for Automated Stopping of Markov Chain Monte Carlo Estimation in Bayesian Modeling with PROC MCMC

open access: yesPsych, 2023
A crucial challenge in Bayesian modeling using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) estimation is to diagnose the convergence of the chains so that the draws can be expected to closely approximate the posterior distribution on which inference is based.

Evidence‐Based Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Pediatric Febrile Neutropenia: Resource‐Sensitive Recommendations for the Asian Continent

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Febrile neutropenia (FN) is a frequent and serious complication in children receiving cancer therapy. Standardizing FN management across Asia is challenging due to variable healthcare infrastructure, diagnostic capacity, and infection patterns; however, it could improve resource use and patient outcomes.

Sum-Log Stopping Criterion for Log-MAP Turbo Decoding

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2023
This article presents a new stopping criterion for the logarithmic - maximum a posteriori (Log-MAP) turbo decoding. This method is inspired from the recent stopping criterion Sum alpha of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm.

Parameterless Stopping Criteria for Recursive Density Matrix Expansions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2016
Parameterless stopping criteria for recursive polynomial expansions to construct the density matrix in electronic structure calculations are proposed. Based on convergence order estimation the new stopping criteria automatically and accurately detect when the calculation is dominated by numerical errors and continued iteration does not improve the ...

Structures of mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase reveal carrier‐domain translocation between catalytic sites

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

Bayesian sequential estimation of the proportion of damage in maize seeds

open access: yesScientia Agricola
Sampling is an essential step in estimating a parameter: thus, cost and time associated to this step should be minimized. Sequential sampling is characterized by using samples of variable sizes given as a function of observations, and sequential sampling

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Bayesian adaptive design for pediatric clinical trials incorporating a community of prior beliefs

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2022
Background Pediatric population presents several barriers for clinical trial design and analysis, including ethical constraints on the sample size and slow accrual rate.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.
