Mirror Descent and Convex Optimization Problems With Non-Smooth Inequality Constraints
We consider the problem of minimization of a convex function on a simple set with convex non-smooth inequality constraint and describe first-order methods to solve such problems in different situations: smooth or non-smooth objective function; convex or ...

Randomised rules for stopping problems [PDF]
AbstractIn a classical, continuous-time, optimal stopping problem, the agent chooses the best time to stop a stochastic process in order to maximise the expected discounted return. The agent can choose when to stop, and if at any moment they decide to stop, stopping occurs immediately with probability one.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

APPROXIMATION TO THE USE OF AN OPTIMAL STOPPING RULE FOR COHERENT SYSTEMS
In this paper is introduced some applications of the optimal stopping rule known as ILA rule (Infinitesimal Look Ahead rule) in solving optimization problems in maintenance, burn-in and guarantees processes on coherent systems observed at the level of ...

Frequentist Evaluation of Group Sequential Clinical Trial Designs [PDF]
Group sequential stopping rules are often used as guidelines in the monitoring of clinical trials in order to address the ethical and efficiency issues inherent in human testing of a new treatment or preventive agent for disease. Such stopping rules have

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

A significant number of alloyed metals applied for different purposes are currently available in industry. The hardness of a piece is an important parameter to consider. The tempering process is widely used to change a metal’s hardness, which is obtained

Behaviorally consistent optimal stopping rules [PDF]
The authors characterize behaviorally consistent optimal stopping rules in a bounded sequential search model without recalls for searchers whose preferences are nonlinear. They show that the preferences are quasiconvex then the optimal stopping rule has the reservation level property, and that if the preferences are quasiconcave then the optimal ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
