Calculation of Stopping Power for Protons, Carbon and Oxygen Ions in C2H4O, C3H3N Polymers

open access: yesJournal of Kufa-Physics, 2019
In this research, the electronic stopping power was calculated using Bethe and Bragg rule equations for the protons, carbon and oxygen ions in the polymers (C3H3N ,C2H4O) in the energy range of (0.01-1000) MeV. The equations were programmed using MATLAB

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Comparison of Bayesian and frequentist group-sequential clinical trial designs

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2020
Background There is a growing interest in the use of Bayesian adaptive designs in late-phase clinical trials. This includes the use of stopping rules based on Bayesian analyses in which the frequentist type I error rate is controlled as in frequentist ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

On the Use of Stochastic Curtailment in Group Sequential Clinical Trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Many different criteria have been proposed for the selection of a stopping rule for group sequen- tial trials. These include both scientific (e.g., estimates of treatment effect) and statistical (e.g., frequentist type I error, Bayesian posterior ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

On Second Moments of Stopping Rules

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1966
The current investigation is a natural outgrowth of [2], being concerned with the variance of stopping rules and the effect of non-zero means on the variance of a randomly stopped sum. Some martingale generalizations of applications of [2] also appear.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Sequential evidence accumulation in decision making [PDF]

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2008
Judgments and decisions under uncertainty are frequently linked to a prior sequential search for relevant information. In such cases, the subject has to decide when to stop the search for information.

CNN-VSR: A Deep Learning Architecture with Validation-Based Stopping Rule for Time Series Classication

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence, 2020
Deep learning methods for univariate time series classification (TSC) are recently gaining attention. Especially, convolutional neural network (CNN) is utilized to solve the problem of predicting class labels of time series obtained through various ...
