Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

A robust complex local mean decomposition method with self‐adaptive sifting stopping

open access: yesElectronics Letters
Targets with rotating components generate micro‐motion (MM) modulation effect in addition to the main body. Extracting MM parameters is challenging due to interference from the target's main body, necessitating the separation of modulation signals.

Preventing Posterior Collapse with DVAE for Text Modeling

open access: yesEntropy
This paper introduces a novel variational autoencoder model termed DVAE to prevent posterior collapse in text modeling. DVAE employs a dual-path architecture within its decoder: path A and path B.

Infinite horizon stopping problems with (nearly) total reward criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study an infinite horizon optimal stopping Markov problem which is either undiscounted (total reward) or with a general Markovian discount rate. Using ergodic properties of the underlying Markov process, we establish the feasibility of the stopping ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Stopping set analysis of repeat multiple-accumulate codes

open access: yes2009 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2009
In this work, we consider a stopping set analysis of repeat multiple-accumulate (RMA) code ensembles formed by the serial concatenation of a repetition code with multiple accumulators. The RMA codes are assumed to be iteratively decoded in a constituent code oriented fashion using maximum a posteriori erasure correction in the constituent codes.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...
