Stopping criteria for genetic improvement software for beef-cattle mating selection

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2023
The objective of this work was to propose a new stopping criterion to shorten the computing time of the PampaPlus genetic improvement software, while maximizing the genetic qualification index (GQI) of the progeny, controlling inbreeding, and avoiding ...

Optimal Stopping Methods for Investment Decisions: A Literature Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Financial Studies, 2022
Investors decide the best time to take a given action by maximizing their utility function while taking into account current information and the underlying process in the optimal stopping model. Option pricing, sequential analysis, disorder problems, and

On final stopping time problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
§1. Let us consider the state equation of a dynamical system $$ \left\{ \begin{gathered}{{\dot y}_{xt}}(s) = f(s,{y_{xt}}(s))\,\,0\underset{\raise0.3em\hbox{$\smash{\scriptscriptstyle-}$}}{ \leqslant } t\underset{\raise0.3em\hbox{$\smash{\scriptscriptstyle-}$}}{ \leqslant } s\underset{\raise0.3em\hbox{$\smash{\scriptscriptstyle-}$}}{ \leqslant } T <

Which Functions of Stopping Times are Stopping Times?

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1973
Some functions of stopping times are necessarily stopping times, but others need not be. For example, the sum $\tau_1 + \tau_2$ of two stopping times is, while for stochastic processes in continuous time, the product $\tau_1 \cdot \tau_2$ need not be. Determined here for each positive integer $n$ are those functions $\phi$ for which $\phi(\tau)$ is a ...

Modeling Drivers’ Stopping Behaviors during Yellow Intervals at Intersections considering Group Heterogeneity

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2020
Stopping behavior during yellow intervals is one of the critical driver behaviors correlated with intersection safety. As the main index of stopping behavior, stopping time is typically described by Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) model.

Temporally-precise disruption of prefrontal cortex informed by the timing of beta bursts impairs human action-stopping

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2020
Human action-stopping is thought to rely on a prefronto-basal ganglia-thalamocortical network, with right inferior frontal cortex (rIFC) posited to play a critical role in the early stage of implementation. Here we sought causal evidence for this idea in

Serological Benefit of SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination Relative to Infection in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The practice of going helps children to stop:The importance of context monitoring in inhibitory control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
How do we stop ourselves during ongoing action? Recent work implies that stopping per se is easy given sufficient monitoring of contextual cues signaling the need to change action.
