Pulsed sextupole injection for Sweden’s new light source MAX IV
The MAX IV facility presently under construction will include two storage rings for the production of synchrotron radiation. Both rings will be operated at a constant 500 mA of stored current with top-up shots supplied by the MAX IV linac acting as a ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Intrabeam scattering in electron storage rings
A calculation method of emittance growth of an electron beam due to intrabeam scattering is described. The 3 degrees of freedom are equally treated in the beam rest frame, and the couplings between them are included in a natural way.

An improved empirical equation for bunch lengthening in electron storage rings [PDF]
In this paper we propose an improved empirical equation for the bunch lengthening in electron storage rings. The comparisons are made between the analytical and experimental results, and the agreements are quite well.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Crystalline beams in dispersion-free storage rings
Generating a multidimensional crystalline beam in a storage ring has been known to be difficult without a special cooling force, i.e., tapered cooling, because of the momentum dispersion induced by bending magnets.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

High-Intensity Synchrotron Radiation Effects [PDF]
Various effects of intense synchrotron radiation on the performance of particle accelerators, especially for storage rings, are discussed. Following a brief introduction to synchrotron radiation, the basic concepts of heat load, gas load, electron ...
