Genetic Variation for Thermal Adaptation in a Cosmopolitan Stored Product Pest
Ecology LettersABSTRACT Ectotherms' ability to adapt to climate warming depends on the availability of genetic variation. This is particularly important for insect pests because adaptation to warming could lead to greater crop damage and food shortages.

Stored products pests and remote moisture sensors
Journal of Stored Products Research, 1983Abstract It was found that moisture sensors, containing insecticide-treated grain and implanted into an experimental bulk of wheat, acted as ready-made insect traps. The presence of dead insects in the sensors gave a clear indication of the insect distribution in the bulk.

Applied Ecology of Stored-Product Pests
200848 6 Conclusions The relationship between the rate of increase of temperature was significant for A.siro, Aleuroglyphus ovatus and T. putrescentiae. By using real temperatures recorded in Czech grain stores, it was shown that the pest mite population increases only during 3.5 months within a typical 9-month storage season in central Europe.
