Tailored Covalent Organic Frameworks Enable the Encapsulation of Living Cells to Produce Rare Ginsenoside

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reports the in situ fabrication of Escherichia coli@covalent organic frameworks (E. coli@COFs) in phosphate‐buffered saline. The COFs form an exoskeleton on E. coli, protecting intracellular β‐glucosidase (Ssbgl) while enhancing mass transfer.

Effectiveness of flameless catalytic infrared radiation against life stages of three stored-product insect species in stored wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A bench top flameless catalytic infrared emitter was evaluated in the laboratory to disinfest wheat containing different life stages (ages) of the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica; rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae; and red flour beetle, Tribolium ...

Interfacial Electric Field Engineering of High‐Entropy Heterostructures Triggering Self‐Limiting Reconstruction for Industrial‐Scale Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An interfacial electric field engineering strategy is proposed to trigger the self‐limiting surface reconstruction of high‐entropy heterostructures. Driven by this built‐in field, the controlled sacrificial leaching of W evolves a robust active layer, enabling exceptional oxygen evolution performance and ultrastability at ampere‐level current densities

Effects of ozone on Sitophilus oryzae (Col.: Curculionidae) and Oryzaephilus surinamensis (Col.: Silvanidae) in date, wheat and rice storehouses [PDF]

open access: yesنامه انجمن حشره‌شناسی ایران, 2014
The economical loss from stored product pests and their resistance to phosphine and methyl bromide, necessitate replacing these chemicals with other compounds. The toxicity of ozone was evaluated on two important stored product insects, Sitophilus oryzae

Influence of Different Stored Grains on Adult Emergence Rates and Weight Loss by the Rice Weevil Sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection and Pathology
The internal-feeding insect, Sitophilus oryzae L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a ubiquitous and significant pest that burrows into grain that has been stored. The larvae of weevils feed mostly on the grain germ, eliminating a significant portion of the

Asymmetric Evolution of Antennal Cell Types Underlies a Derived Ammonia‐Sensing Logic for Ecological Adaptation in Bactrocera dorsalis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative antennal single‐nucleus transcriptomics reveals cell‐type‐dependent transcriptomic divergence in Bactrocera dorsalis, with similar structural cells but divergent sensory neurons. This neuronal diversification is associated with a distinct ammonia‐sensing pathway, linking female attraction to bird‐dropping‐associated cues with nutritional ...

Effect of Citrus aurantium L. oil peel against Tribolium castanium on wheat (Triticum aestivum) under storage previously treated by mycorrhizal and potassium humate under field conditions

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and humic substances were used to promote plant growth and boost yields in two wheat cultivars, Misr-1 and Gemmiza-11. After harvest, the grain of the two wheat varieties were treated with Citrus aurantium essential oil peel ...

Comparison of the developmental time of Bracon hebetor (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) reared on five different lepidopteran host species and its relationship with digestive enzymes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2014
Bracon (Habrobracon) hebetor Say is a polyphagous parasitoid of lepidopteran larvae, including those of the family Pyralidae. There are many reports that this parasitoid attacks the larvae of stored product and field crop pests.

A Decoy‐Receptor‐Armed Biomimetic Nanotherapeutic With Inherent Tropism for Conserved Pathogenic Macrophages for Treating Osteoarthritis and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...
