On weakly 1-convex sets in the plane

open access: yesPracì Mìžnarodnogo Geometričnogo Centru, 2023
The present work considers the properties of generally convex sets in the plane known as weakly 1-convex. An open set is called weakly 1-convex if for any boundary point of the set there exists a straight line passing through this point and not ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Three dimensional extension of Bresenham’s algorithm with Voronoi diagram

open access: yes, 2010
Bresenham’s algorithm for plotting a two-dimensional line segment is elegant and efficient in its deployment of mid-point comparison and integer arithmetic. It is natural to investigate its three-dimensional extensions.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The measurements of straight-line distance and its projection on surface.

open access: yes, 2014
Point C’ is the lowest point of the nipple base and point C is the lowest point of the inframammary fold. The black line between point C and C’ stands for the straight-line distance of N-IMF.

Impact Points and Their Effect on Trajectory in Soccer

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
The kick skill and its analysis are important in Soccer. To detect impact point by using virtual impact model is aim of this study. The virtual impact model was made as a surface composed of virtual markers.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

THE PIVOTAL TESSELLATION

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
The tessellation studied here is motivated by some stereological applications of a new expression for the motion invariant density of straight lines in R3.
